How do I sign up for Salam Advisor?
The instructions below are for creating a member account as a user on Salam Advisor. If you are a business owner, you will want to
claim your business page to create an account on Salam Advisor for Business Owners.
Once you sign up, we will send a confirmation message to the email you provided. You will need to click the confirmation link in the email. Be sure to check your spam folder and any other email tabs if you do not see this email in your inbox.
To create an account on
www.salamadvisor.com:
- Go to Sign Up
- Click Sign up with Facebook or Google+ or enter your name, email address, password, and zip code then click “Sign Up”
- Click on the confirmation link in the email we’ll send you to validate your account
After signing up, please
complete your profile.
If you are a business owner, you will want to
claim your business page after creating your account on Salam Advisor.
If you do not receive a confirmation message or run into other trouble with your account, contact us via email:
contact@salamadvisor.com.

How do I bookmark halal places that I would like to review or try?
You can use the Favorites feature to keep track of interesting business pages on Salam Advisor so you can easily find them again later.
To bookmark a business page from Salamadvisor.com
- Log in to your member account
- Find the business page that you would like to bookmark
- Click “Add to favs” on the top right of the business page
The
Favorites tab in your account shows a list of the business pages you've bookmarked. If you'd like to remove a bookmark, click “Remove”.

How do I confirm my email address?
To confirm your email address on Salam Advisor, you will need to follow the instructions that are emailed to you when you sign up. If you are having trouble locating this message, please make sure to check any email folders or filters you may have set up, and double check that you're checking the correct email address (for example, you may have used a work email address instead of a personal one when registering).

How do I subscribe to the Salam Advisor newsletter?
Stay up on what’s hot and new and receive in your inbox our Good Deals thanks to the Salam Advisor newsletter!
To subscribe to the Salam Advisor newsletter:
- When you sign up tick the box: “I would like to receive the Salam Advisor newsletter”
- Or Go to the “My profile” section of your account
- Select the “Settings” section
- Scroll down and tick the box: “I want to receive the Salam Advisor newsletter”
- Click “Save changes”
You can also subscribe by going directly to the
Salam Advisor newsletter page and entering your email address then clicking “Subscribe” button.
To unsubscribe by email:
- Open the Salam Advisor newsletter in your Inbox
- Scroll down to the bottom and click "Unsubscribe"

What is a member account?
You will need to
sign up with Salam Advisor by creating a member account in order to write reviews, post photos, or use any of the features beyond searching Salam Advisor.
A member account on Salam Advisor is for personal, non-commercial use of the website, and should not be used to promote a business, website, etc.
Business owners interested in using Salam Advisor should
read about business accounts first. However, we do permit business owners to have personal member accounts, but they cannot be used to promote their own business, nor should they be reviewing other businesses they engage with as part of their own.

Why am I not receiving emails from Salam Advisor?
Troubleshooting suggestions if emails from Salam Advisor are not reaching your inbox:
- Search all folders (including Spam and Trash) for emails from contact@salamadvisor.com. If you’re using a Gmail address, check your Priority Inbox settings and Inbox tabs.
- Confirm that the email address you are checking is the one you use for your Salam Advisor account and that there are not any typos. You can check your email address in the “My Profile” section of your member account.
- Add contact@salamadvisor.com to your contacts or safe sender list.
- Check for typos after you’ve entered your email address in your Salam Advisor member account.
- Check your email forwarding settings.
- Check to see if your inbox is full.
If the above steps are unsuccessful, you may want to try adding a new email address to your member or business account.

Can halal places see my personal account information?
By default, businesses can see some basic information (username, number of reviews posted) about you when you interact with their business page on Salam Advisor (for instance by bookmarking a business page, reviewing a halal place).

Do I need to use my real name on Salam Advisor?
We believe using a pseudonym may detract from the credibility of your contributions to the site, but while we encourage Salam Advisor members to use their real names, it is not a requirement.
Please keep in mind that even if you use a pseudonym, other users may be able to identify you if you include personal information in the content you post publicly.

How do I change which emails I receive from Salam Advisor?
You will receive email notifications each time you contribute (review, photos…) on Salam Advisor.
You can subscribe or unsubscribe to the Salam Advisor newsletter by ticking or not the box “I want to receive the Salam Advisor newsletter” in the “Settings” section of the “
My Profile” tab of your member account.
