We’re always working to improve our search tool so that we can deliver the most relevant results to our users.
How are search results ordered?
Search results are intended to provide the most useful results to consumers. The search algorithm looks at a number of different factors, including the search term itself, distance, business category and ratings.
Besides several filters are also available to refine the search and display even more relevant results.
Where is the business I added?
When you add a business to Salam Advisor, it has to be reviewed before it appears in search results. If you added a business recently but you cannot find it in search, it is likely that it still has to be reviewed - please do not submit the same business multiple times.
This process may take a while depending on our ability to independently verify any submissions, and we will sometimes reject a submission if we are unable to independently confirm the business or if the business is not eligible for Salam Advisor.
Why do some permanently closed businesses still appear in Salam Advisor search results?
A closed business page will still appear in targeted searches for longer than that, even though it may have already dropped out of general searches. Keep in mind that some closed listings are useful because they allow people to know that these businesses are closed and may link to the business's new location.
Please note that we do not delete business pages, so even if they do not appear in search results, they are still accessible via user profiles of the people who reviewed the business, and from direct links from elsewhere on the web.
What are the available filters on the Salam Advisor search engine?
You can refine your search thanks to the filters available on our search tool:
- On the Search Results page, click “More filters”
- Select the desired filter(s):
- Features: Halal certification / Recently added
- Distance: from you current position / from a specific address / from a specific point of interest
